The FRIS-team is happy to welcome Benjamin Trey as a new PhD student.
Benjamin completed his master degree at the Deutsches Elektronen-Synchrotron in Hamburg in the group of Prof. Tobias Herr. There, he worked on implementing an integrated photonic-chips for optical sensing of highly-relativistic electron bunches in a particle accelerator.
As part of the FRIS-team, Benjamin will focus on scaling the pulse amplification with Cr:ZnS amplifiers. With a higher pump and gate pulse power, the signal-to-noise ratio of the molecular fingerprint could be significantly increased, thus enabling a better early-stage cancer detection.
