We are delighted to welcome Anna Guarino to the data science research group as a new PhD student, in the framework of the Munich School of Data Science (MUDS). Anna earned both her bachelor’s degree in economics and her master’s degree in data science from the University of Naples Federico II, graduating with honors. In her master’s thesis, she used Reduced Rank Regression, a method for uncovering structure in complex multivariate data, to study the relationship between environmental attitudes and behavior.
As a member of the data science group, Anna will focus her doctoral research on developing statistical methods for the multimodal analysis of longitudinal human health data. Her work will integrate infrared (IR) molecular fingerprinting, mass spectrometry (MS)-based proteomics, and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR)-based metabolomics. This research aims to derive predictive models for early disease detection and establish scalable methodologies for large-scale health studies.
