There was an inspiring evening at the Deutsches Museum at the end of March. The early years of attosecond physics at the turn of the millennium were the topic of the lecture series “Science for everyone”. In an exciting lecture, Dr. Matthias Uiberacker and Dr. Michael Hentschel explained how the first attosecond flashes of light saw the light of day at TU Wien. At the time, the two were young doctoral students in the team of Prof. Ferenc Krausz, who was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 2023 for this discovery. If you were unable to see the lecture, you can watch it on YouTube.
