“Enlightening”, “relaxed” and “grounding” — this is how participants described the annual meeting of the IMPRS-APS. The event, held this week at Schloss Ringberg, brought together doctoral candidates to connect, exchange ideas and present their research.
Over three days, attendees experienced everything from snowflakes to sunshine, mirroring the diversity of topics covered: While light plays a crucial role in the work of all IMPRS-APS students, their research topics are very diverse and range from quantum mechanical modeling of photochemistry to field-resolved molecular fingerprinting and single-shot laser characterization.
In addition to research presentations, two standout sessions offered valuable insights: Dr. Nils Haag, CEO of PULSED GmbH, shared his entrepreneurial journey and the challenges of navigating the first three years of running a startup. Furthermore, Daniel Mertens, leukemia researcher at DKFZ, led an interactive workshop on leveraging AI for thesis and grant writing.
The IMPRS-APS team is already looking forward to next year’s gathering. Until then, further events are already planned. You can have a look at them here.
