Yesterday, around 50 graduates of the Max Planck School of Photonics (MPSP) kicked off their spring school with a visit to the Max-Planck-Institute of Quantum Optics (MPQ) and the Centre for Advanced Laser Applications (CALA).

The event started with presentations by MPSP fellows Vladislav Yakovlev and Mihaela Zigman, who showcased their research at attoworld. Following this, Stefan Karsch – another MPSP fellow – provided an introduction to CALA, offering the students an overview of the facility's capabilities and research focus. The highlight of the visit was a tour of CALA's state-of-the-art experimental chambers, where the students could witness the diverse applications of advanced laser systems – from generating heavy elements to medical applications.

The Spring School is set to continue in Garmisch-Partenkirchen for the next few days. We thank the MPSP graduates for their visit and wish them a productive and inspiring experience.
