Anyone who would like to relive the opening of the new High-Throughput Metabolomics Laboratory of the Center for Molecular Fingerprinting (CMF) at the Center for Advanced Laser Applications (CALA) can now do so on YouTube. A video of the opening ceremony is available on the CMF’s YouTube channel.
With the installation of seven new high-resolution mass spectrometry systems CMF now boasts a unique technical infrastructure. The new instruments function as precise molecular scales, allowing researchers to analyze the composition of blood samples from the H4H Program. The results obtained via mass spectrometry are combined with CMF’s proprietary laser-based technology. This complex approach can detect subtle physiological changes, potentially enabling identification of chronic diseases before symptoms appear.
The video gives viewers a first look at the state-of-the-art molecular phenotyping laboratory. In addition, leading scientists offer a glimpse into the research that will now be possible thanks to this globally unique infrastructure:
